Thoughts

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and some reading. I've been reading about everything from mysticism to the seven deadly sins to aesthetics and metaphysics.

My brother is a pretty wise guy so I guess I credit him for my interest in things outside the norm. He once said to me:

"Thoughts are contagious."

That got me to thinking. Thoughts define trends. What makes something 'cool'? People and the media I'd say. The media sensationalizes something and people catch on. Eventually, it's got the world talking and suddenly everyone is into the same thing. But then I start to wonder why people keep saying what makes you cool is when you don't care about what people think of you. If that is so, then why do people wear jeans and t-shirts when we can simply wear track pants or why wouldn't a man wear a dress?

People say that it's cool not to care what people think and in fact some people can go on saying how they don't care. But everyone is image conscious. Who's to say jeans and t-shirts are the norm when it can be sweat pants and track suits?

In the end, there is not one single person in the world who does not worry about their self image.
